Priory Experience

The Priory's Mission:
The Priory of St. Benedict, Inc. in Chestertown, NY is a Christian retreat center welcoming people of all faiths for prayer, community, education and outreach.  It is staffed by Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and lay staff in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.

We continue a tradition of hospitality based on the gospel values of:
Reverencing the uniqueness of all persons,
Welcoming all with gentleness, and
Striving to live honestly and to grow in unconditional love as Jesus taught us to do.

We believe:

• That human life can be enhanced when persons deepen their relationship with God through solitude, prayer, interaction with others and reverence for all of creation;
• That this relationship can be fostered by participation in times of prayer, retreat, spiritual direction and opportunities for healing and growth;
• That through this relationship with God, love and peace can change our world;
